UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST – EMILY [PRINCE:
Kirk & Emily Prince would like to thank everyone who has been praying for Emily’s health. Emily was admitted to St. Luke’s East Hospital on Tuesday, Feb 12th, for abdominal pain and nausea. CT scans showed that an abscess had formed in her intestines, and surgery was required to remove the abscess and a few inches of her intestines. Emily has been recovering at home since then, and is bouncing back quickly. The doctors are concerned that she might have Crohn’s disease, and will be doing further testing to determine if that is the case. Crohn’s disease is not curable, but can be treated with medication to prevent further complications. Continued prayers are requested for her full recovery, and for her ongoing health.
PRAYER REQUEST – ERNA ANDERSON:
Randy Anderson’s mother, Erna Anderson, was admitted to Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph during the week of Feb 11th. Fluid was taken off of her abdomen, having been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, in addition to her already weak heart. Erna was released from the hospital Thursday night, Feb 14th, and has been at home since. Randy is asking for your prayers for his mother’s overall health.
THANK-YOU & UPDATE FROM MURIEL GUESS:
Mrs. Muriel Guess wants to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, and calls while she was going through cataract surgery on February 4th and 18th. Muriel says she is recovering nicely, and can now see so well that she didn’t realize how gray her hair was getting!
FOOD PANTRY REQUEST:
The local Food Pantry is once again in need of donations. Paper products, as well as dried, boxed, or canned foods (with the exception of canned vegetables, we have plenty) would be welcome. Also, remember that the Days of Unleavened Bread will be here before long, so NO leavening or leavened products, please. Any donations can be left by the Lost & Found and Church Booklet/Information Table at the west side of the meeting hall. Thanks for your help and concern for local brethren in-need! If you have any questions in this regard, please see Dave or Jan Ostrom.
REGULAR SPOKESMAN CLUB – TONIGHT:
The Regular [undergraduate] Spokesman Club will meet TONIGHT (NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE!) at the Best Western Plus Hotel, 4825 NE Lakewood Way, Lees Summit, located between Lakewood Blvd and Woods Chapel Road on the East side of Hwy 291, directly behind the Summit Grill & Bar. Doors will be open at 6:00 PM, with the meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Assignments for Club can be found on the kclcg.org website under the Resource Center tab, then click on the Spokesman Club page. A reminder that the “Three-T’s” (Topics, Toast, & Timer) are to bring snacks & drinks for the break.
DIGITAL LIBRARY UPDATES – THREE ITEMS:
1) The Digital Library has been moved to near the Information Table, on a trial bases. We are hopeful this new location will make checking-out Audio CDs & DVDs easier.
2) The Digital Library coordinator, Pamela Taylor, would like to provide other brethren a chance to serve in coordinating the Digital Library. There is a sign-up sheet at the Digital Library for anyone interested in serving for one month. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact Pamela Taylor at (816) 786-4478.
3) We are considering adding USB Flash Drives (of Kansas City Sermons) to the Digital Library’s Audio CDs & DVDs, for check-out by brethren. To alert the ushers, we would now like to see a show of hands by interested brethren, as to enough interest to make this option feasible.
BIBLE STUDY – MARCH 6:
Our next Bible Study will be Wednesday, March 6th, starting at 7:30 PM (with doors opening no later than 7:00 PM), at the Sermon Center, Independence, MO, in the 4th floor meeting room.
CHURCH SERVICES & SOCIAL (WITH UPDATES) – MARCH 9:
Church Services and the Social will be held on March 9th at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs, MO. “Burgers & Bunco” is the theme for the Social. Hamburgers with all the condiments, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, and chips will be provided. We are asking each family to bring a dozen cookies to share during Bunco. A few more volunteers are needed to decorate a table with the theme “Burgers and Bunco,” so please see the Table Decorations Sign-Up sheet on the Information Table.
IN ADDITION, there will be a baked-goods auction at sundown. Money raised will be given to the local church activity fund. If you would like to bring a homemade baked item to sell during the auction, please bring it into the meeting hall before services. We will need to know what’s being auctioned. Using a 3×5 index card (or equivalent), please put your name, what the item is, and if there is anything in it that people may be allergic to, such as nuts. We are looking forward to a great time! If you have any questions, see Mrs. Damon or Mrs. Jacques
