ASSAULT UPDATE – WALTER COOK: Walter Cook reports: I would like to thank all of the brethren in the St. Joe and Kansas City LCG congregations for their prayers and sympathy following my enduring a brutal and malicious aggravated-assault last September. My attacker is scheduled to go on trial on January 8th, 2020, here in Harrisonville, Missouri. The memory of that attack remains fresh in my mind and I hope and pray that justice will be done in this case. Sincerely, Walter L. Cook (baptized member since 1974; co-worker since 1962).
EYE STATUS – RICHARD FILBERT:
Eye health update from Dick Filbert: I went to the eye doctor last Wednesday to get my third shot in my right eye for treatment of macular degeneration. The doctor said that my eye had greatly improved, and that my next visit to him would be in six weeks instead of four. God has really blessed me, and I would like to thank everyone for their prayers. TEEN ACTIVITY – DEC 20:
Teens & their families – Dinner & Bible Study, next Friday evening, December 20th, at the home of Taylor & Margie Jones, 4509 S. Tyer Rd, Grain Valley MO 64029. Dinner will start at 6:00 PM and consist of chili-cheese beef hot dogs. Please bring a drink & side dish or dessert to share. See you all there!
PIONEER CLUB PINEWOOD DERBY RACE – DEC 22:
Dads and Sons – get your engines started! The annual Pinewood Derby Race will be held Sunday, December 22nd. Remember to stick to the rules that have been given. Dads are expected to help a bit, but the main car construction should be completed by the boys. Same as last year, with trophies for the winners in the different categories. A “NO Graphite” rule is in effect until you are given instructions prior to the race, as we want to keep the facility floor clean. Also, we would like to invite the Moms & families to this event. KANSAS CITY DINNER/DANCE SOCIAL – DEC 28:
Kansas City is planning a Dinner/Dance Social for December 28th at the Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N Holmes St, Gladstone, MO 64118. Sabbath services will begin one-half hour earlier than normal, at 12:30 PM (doors open to brethren at 11:30 AM). The Sabbath will consist of streaming of live services from Charlotte at 12:30 PM local time, followed by a catered dinner & family dance. Olive Garden will cater the meal, with pricing per person at $8 with a max of $40 per family of 5 or more. Dinner will consist of your choice of: Spaghetti or Fettuccine, Alfredo or Marinara sauce, Grilled Chicken or Beef Meatballs, Salad, and Breadsticks. Drinks (tea, water, coffee) will be provided. Dance will be Sabbath attire. Those who are coming from out-of-town will need to make housing arrangements on their own. Finally, there will be an Italian-themed center-piece decoration sign-up at the Information Table (similar to our Burgers & Bunco night).
