CHURCH PICNIC & SMOKE-OFF – JUNE 3:
The annual Church Picnic and 2nd annual Smoke-Off is on Sunday, June 3rd, for a day of Fun, Fellowship, Food, and Smoked Treats from local experts vying for the top spot on the food chain.  There will be Children’s Activities, Horse Shoes, Ultimate Frisbee, Softball, and most importantly, Christian Fellowship.  Those competing in the Smoke-Off please sign the list on the information table.  The Picnic will be from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the same location as for the past several years, Baumgardner Park, main shelter house at NE corner of the park.  The park’s official address is 2401 NW Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO, but the shelter house is about a block north of this address.  Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs, sunglasses, and sun-screen; and please pray for favorable weather!  Any questions should be directed to Doug and Faith Burson.

PICNIC MENU:
Iced tea, lemonade, Gatorade, water, cups, plates, plastic-ware, and napkins will be furnished. Smoked Treats will be furnished by our local experts.  Each family is asked to bring their favorite picnic food to share, such as a meat dish, vegetable or fruit salad, and desert, enough for your family and one or two other persons. Singles are asked to bring chips and soft drinks or fruit drinks (but no beer).

PICNIC END-OF-DAY:
We will need to have the shelter house itself clean and vacated by 4:00 PM to allow for the possibility of another group’s booking of the shelter house.  Those who would like to stay after 4:00 PM are welcome to continue games and fellowship in the surrounding park, but not in the shelter house.

BIBLE STUDY – JUNE 6:
Our next monthly Bible Study will be Wednesday, June 6th, at the new location, the Roger T. Sermon Community Center, 201 N. Dodgion Street, Independence, MO 64050 (SE corner of Truman & Noland roads).  Doors to the 4th floor meeting room will open at least by 7:00 PM, with Bible Study starting at 7:30 PM.  When you enter the building, go past the reception desk, then down the hall to the elevator, and go up to the 4th floor’s only meeting room.

INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I-70 CLOSURE – JUNE 8-11:
Beginning Friday, June 8th, crews will completely close I-70 at the east part of town between I-435 and I-470 to allow three bridge demolitions.  For those affected, please choose alternate routes to Church on the Sabbath of June 9th.  Reopening is scheduled for Monday morning, June 11th.  All work is weather-contingent.

AMBASSADOR OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT – JUNE 10:
It’s time once again for the 2nd annual Ambassador Open Golf tournament on Sunday, June 10th, to be held at the same place as last year, Rangeline Golf Center, 2001 North Range Line Road, Joplin, Missouri.  For $42 per person, you will enjoy 18 holes of golf with cart, breakfast, and lunch.  Top team is awarded trophies. Proceeds will go towards a pine box car track for pre-teen camp.  Put a team of four together, or just come alone and you will be assigned to a team.  To sign-up, please call Justin Hilgenberg at 417-793-3782, or go to Facebook Ambassador Open Golf Tournament and sign-up.  You can pay with check or cash when you show up.  We need to know ASAP if you plan to attend!

FEAST RIDES & ROOMMATES:
While it is presumed that most everyone attending the Feast in the Ozarks has made their travel and room arrangements by now, there may be a few who need a ride, or can offer a ride, to/from the Ozarks, as well as a few who need a roommate to share expenses.  If this is the case for you, please see today or call our local Festival Advisor, Mr. George Damon, cell (913) 200-8662, who will try to pair you with others accordingly.

DON’T-MELT-AWAY-5K – JULY 15:
Please save the date for July 15 to help out once again with Don’t-Melt-Away-5K.  Proceeds go to benefit Living Youth Programs and the Kansas City Family Weekend.  We will need volunteers like we have in the past.  Please sign up to volunteer through the website dontmeltaway5K.com.  You can also run the race at 50% off by entering the coupon code GOLCG18 when you register.  We hope to see everyone there!
