DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT:

Although the death of Alvera Glenn was announced last Sabbath, many of you were not present to hear the details.  Here is a slightly revised version of what was read:

Alvera Lou (Young) Glenn was born on September 28, 1931, in Limon, Colorado.  She was the only child of Alton & Vera (Garver) Young. Alvera passed from this life on October 23, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.  Alvera graduated from Robinson High School, class of 1949.  She married the love of her life, Marvin Glenn, on June 5, 1949.  This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Judith Lou Bearce and Barbara Sue Mueller.  She was baptized and a member of the Living Church of God.  Alvera loved spending time outside working alongside her husband on their farms.  She loved animals, and had many horses & dogs.  Her beloved dog, Dolly, died one day before her.  Alvera loved to bake and was always cooking for her family. She was best known for her chocolate chip cookies.  Her motto was “Good, Better, Best, Never Let It Rest Until Good is Better, and Better is Best.”  She is survived by her two daughters Judith (Earl) Bearce, Barbara (Carl) Mueller of Robinson KS, four grandchildren, Amy (Shane) Plattner, Jeremy (Amy), Codi, Carli, & Paul Mueller, Elizabeth (Craig), Annaliese, Faith, Luke, & Sarah Jeschke, all of Robinson KS, Angela (Jeremy) Katelyn of Topeka KS, Nicole & Jarrod Twombly of Padonia KS.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton & Vera Young, and by her husband, Marvin, on December 11, 1990.  A Celebration of Alvera’s Life began at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 28, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha KS, with the Eulogy given by Mr. Rand Millich.  Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson.  On the Sunday before, friends called at the funeral home after 12:00 noon, and with the family meeting from 4:00 to 6:00 that afternoon.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alvera Glenn Memorial Fund, which may be sent in-care-of the funeral home at 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.

BIBLE STUDY – NOV 6:

Our next monthly Bible Study will be this coming Wednesday, November 6th, at the Roger T. Sermon Community Center, 201 N. Dodgion Street, Independence, MO 64050 (SE corner of Truman & Noland roads) in the 2nd Floor meeting room.  Doors will open at least by 7:00 PM, with Bible Study starting at 7:30 PM.

SPOKESMAN & GRAD CLUB MEETING – NOV 9:

The initial meeting of the Spokesman & Grad Clubs will be next Saturday evening, November 9th, at the home of John & Paula Wells, 2329 NE Lake Breeze Lane, Lee’s Summit MO 64086 (call John’s cell if you get lost, 816-729-8990).  This initial meeting will COMBINE BOTH CLUBS and serving as an orientation meeting.  Meetings thereafter will be held on the same night, but with the two clubs meeting separately.  If you have not yet signed up for this year’s Club, please remember to add your name to the Club Sign-Up sheet on the Information Table.

KC CHURCH SOCIAL – NOV 16:

Mark your calendars for the November 16th Sabbath services followed by a KC Church Social, having the theme of “Friendsgiving.”  The location will be Vesper Hall, 400 NW Vesper St, Blue Springs, MO 64014.  Dr. Douglas Winnail will be our guest speaker for Sabbath services, with services starting at the normal time of 1:00 PM.  Immediately after services, the room will be re-set for a Thanksgiving-themed meal.  Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, and rolls will be provided along with drinks.  Please bring your favorite side-dish or dessert to share.  After the meal, following sunset, we will have an auction to raise funds for the local church fund.  You can provide a sweet dish such as cookies, cakes, or pies or a gift basket to be auctioned.  After the auction we will have another Pitch tournament along with games for the children.
