Local Announcements Sept 1, 2018

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DEBBIE KEESEE:
As many of you know, Michael Keesee’s mother, Debbie Keesee, died this week on Tuesday, August 28th, after a very aggressive spread of cancer this summer.  The Keesee family is planning a “Celebration of Life” memorial service for Debbie from 6:00 to 9:00 PM this coming Tuesday, September 4th, at the Community of Christ Church, 3100 South Crysler Avenue, Independence, Missouri.
Cards may be sent to Mike Keesee at 411 SW Joseph Lane, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029, and to his dad, Rod Keesee, at 1711 SW 5th Street, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, hugs, encouraging words and support for our family through a very intense and exhausting time. We have very much felt the strength and peace of your prayers.  With much love from Mike and Rachel Keesee.

SENIOR LUNCHEON AT OZARKS FEAST:
As a reminder for those attending the Ozarks Feast, the Senior’s Luncheon on September 25th, for seniors age 55 and above, is FREE, but you still have to Register for the Senior’s Luncheon (along with any other Activities).  If you don’t have Internet access, please give a list of Activities you wish to attend to Mr. George Damon, and he will perform the Activities Registration for you.

BIBLE STUDY AT BEST WESTERN – SEPTEMBER 5:
Bible Study will be this coming Wednesday, September 5th, beginning at 7:30 PM.  Doors will be open at least by 7:00 PM, so come early and help set-up. LOCATION CHANGE (AGAIN)!  We will meet at the Best Western Plus Hotel, 4825 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, located between Lakewood Blvd and Woods Chapel Road on the East side of Hwy 291, directly behind the Summit Grill & Bar.  Please attend if at all possible, particularly since there will be NO live-streaming and no archive!

PIONEER CAMP-OUT – SEPTEMBER 8 & 9:
The Pioneer camp-out, set for the dates of September 8th & 9th, will be an overnight camp-out for our Pioneer fathers/grandfathers & sons.  The church services (for the campers) will be held at the private camp-site, and are intended for the Pioneer camper group ONLY, due to the limited facilities (this is a primitive camp-ground with one porta-potty on-site!).  We ask that anyone who is in that general area to please attend the normal Sabbath church service location designated for the St. Joe Congregation, and NOT the camp-ground location.  The camp-ground is on the Jeschke property, located adjacent to the Jeschke home at 1905 Prairie Rd., Robinson, KS 66532.

HOLY DAY OFFERING ENVELOPES:
For offerings taken up on the upcoming Holy Days, please remember to use your green pre-coded Holy Day offering envelopes sent to you from HQ.  If you did not receive these envelopes or you forget to bring one with you, the ushers will have blank envelopes available.

FEAST OF TRUMPETS:
The Feast of Trumpets services will be on Monday, September 10th, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 19677 E Jackson Dr, Independence, MO, with services at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.  An offering will be taken-up during the morning service.  Services will be held in the east pair of the large Oregon Rooms (those nearest to Hereford House).  The Mothers Room and Anointing Room will be in the smaller Santa Fe B & C Rooms.  For brethren bringing their own lunch, the Hotel is allowing us to use the Santa Fe B & C Rooms, as well as the Main Hallway   However, the large Oregon Rooms are NOT to be used for lunch.  Our contract with the Hotel gives us access to our various rooms from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM.

TRUMPETS LUNCH AND/OR DINNER OPTION:
The Hereford House restaurant has graciously reserved for us a Private Room which can accommodate up to 70 brethren who might choose to have lunch there between services, or dinner (starting at 5:30 PM) after services.  If overflow is needed, others can be seated in the main restaurant area.  Additionally, they will extend a $5.00 per person discount coupon to brethren who choose to have lunch and/or dinner there.  For Hereford House to plan wait-staff, we would like to get a general count of those who would consider having lunch and/or dinner in the Private Room.  This is not a commitment, but a means to determine potential interest at this point.  Even if you do not decide now, you could still choose to eat there on the day of Trumpets. At this time, would the ushers place themselves to get a count, and later give the total to Mr. John Wells.  Brethren, if you are considering having lunch and/or dinner there, please raise your hand.

DAY OF ATONEMENT:
The Day of Atonement services will be on Wednesday, September 19th, at Adam’s Mark Hotel, 9103 East 39th Street, Kansas City, MO, with one service at 1:00 PM, during which an offering will be taken-up.  This day is a 24-hour fast-day (no food or drink, no water) extending from sunset the previous evening (Tuesday) to sunset at the completion of the Day of Atonement.  Please check with one of the Elders if you are on medication or have a relevant health issue that might preclude a total fast.

AFTER-FEAST TEEN ACTIVITY:
Attention all teens:  We will not have a teen activity for the month of September due to the Fall Holy Days and Feast; however, our next scheduled activity will be October 27th.  The activity will be following services with dinner and an outdoor movie!  Mark your calendars now!  More information to follow in October.

SPOKESMAN/GRADUATE CLUBS UPDATE & SIGN-UP:
For the upcoming 2018/2019 season, two clubs, a Spokesman Club and a Graduate Club, each being smaller in size is being “considered.”  This would allow each club member more “opportunities” during the season, and would provide a focus for each club, unlike the combined club of years passed.  Club size is planned to be limited.  To gauge if there is sufficient interest, please sign-up on the on-line sign-up form found on the local kclcg.org website under the resource tab.   If you are unable to access or sign-up online, please express your interest to either Mr. John Wells, or the Club Director Mr. Millich, or the Assistant Club Director Mr. Bobby Jacques.  Stay tuned for more information!
