PIONEER CAMP-OUT – SEPTEMBER 8 & 9:
This is a reminder to any remaining Pioneers still wanting to attend the remainder of the camp-out and spend the night tonight, you can still attend. The camp-ground is on the Jeschke property, located adjacent to the Jeschke home at 1905 Prairie Rd., Robinson, KS 66532. It is asked that the Pioneers and all Church brethren please pray for good weather, safety, and a good outcome for the first-ever true Pioneer camp-out!
HOLY DAY OFFERING ENVELOPES:
For offerings taken up on the upcoming Holy Days, please remember to use your green pre-coded Holy Day offering envelopes sent to you from HQ. If you did not receive these envelopes or you forget to bring one with you, the ushers will have blank envelopes available.
FEAST OF TRUMPETS:
The Feast of Trumpets services will be on Monday, September 10th, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 19677 E Jackson Dr, Independence, MO, with services at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. An offering will be taken-up during the morning service. Services will be held in the east pair of the large Oregon Rooms (those nearest to Hereford House). The Mothers Room and Anointing Room will be in the smaller Santa Fe B & C Rooms. For brethren bringing their own lunch, the Hotel is allowing us to use the Santa Fe B & C Rooms, as well as the Main Hallway However, the large Oregon Rooms are NOT to be used for lunch. Our contract with the Hotel gives us access to our various rooms from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM.
TRUMPETS LUNCH AND/OR DINNER OPTION:
The Hereford House restaurant has graciously reserved for us a Private Room which can accommodate up to 70 brethren who might choose to have lunch there between services, or dinner (starting at 5:30 PM) after services. If overflow is needed, others can be seated in the main restaurant area. Additionally, they will extend a $5.00 per person discount coupon to brethren who choose to have lunch and/or dinner there; coupons will be on the rear water table in the Oregon Rooms. For Hereford House to plan wait-staff, we would like to get ANOTHER count of those who would consider having lunch and/or dinner in the Private Room. This is not a commitment, but a means to determine potential interest. Even if you do not decide now, you could still choose to eat there on the day of Trumpets. At this time, would the ushers place themselves to get a count, and later give the total to Mr. John Wells. Brethren, if you are considering having lunch and/or dinner there, please raise your hand.
DAY OF ATONEMENT:
The Day of Atonement services will be on Wednesday, September 19th, at Adam’s Mark Hotel, 9103 East 39th Street, Kansas City, MO, with one service at 1:00 PM, during which an offering will be taken-up. This day is a 24-hour fast-day (no food or drink, no water) extending from sunset the previous evening (Tuesday) to sunset at the completion of the Day of Atonement. Please check with one of the Elders if you are on medication or have a relevant health issue that might preclude a total fast.
OCTOBER CALENDARS:
For brethren who picked up the September/October Church Calendars last week, the October portion of the calendar did not show the Church-Wide Fast on Sabbath, October 20th, so please write that in on your calendar. Calendars currently available on the Information Table have been updated to show the Fast.
SPOKESMAN/GRADUATE CLUBS UPDATE & SIGN-UP:
For the upcoming 2018/2019 season, two clubs, a Spokesman Club and a Graduate Club, each being smaller in size is being “considered.” This would allow each club member more “opportunities” during the season, and would provide a focus for each club, unlike the combined club of years passed. Club size is planned to be limited. To gauge if there is sufficient interest, please sign-up on the on-line sign-up form found on the local kclcg.org website under the resource tab. If you are unable to access or sign-up online, please express your interest to either Mr. John Wells, or the Club Director Mr. Millich, or the Assistant Club Director Mr. Bobby Jacques. Stay tuned for more information!
FEAST HOME-BOUND LIST:
On the Information Table are copies of an address list of Kansas City area brethren unable to attend the Feast this year. The intent of the list is to provide you with the opportunity, during the Feast, to send a thoughtful card or note to these brethren, letting them know you are mindful of them. Feel free to pick up a copy after services today, one copy per family, please. If we run out of copies, more will be available on Trumpets, on the following Sabbath, and on Atonement; or send an email to Mr. Damon, gdamon@kc.rr.com, and he will email a list back to you.
LOCAL CHURCH ACTIVITY FUND:
The Local Church activity fund is utilized to support a number of items including, Flowers for Funerals, scholarships for Teen and Pre-Teen Camp, local church socials, and the year-end Kansas City Weekend event. This year, to date, there has been minimal fund-raising and our account is not depleted, but is running down. A work project fund-raiser is being “penciled” in for Sunday, Oct 28th. The project will include a small area of roofing and some tree/brush removal, with the potential to earn $1,250 for the local church activity fund. Please plan now to participate. For those not able to physically assist with the fund raiser, please feel free to make a donation if able. Checks can be sent C/O John Wells made payable to the KC Local Activity Fund, and mailed to 2329 NE Lake Breeze Lane, Lees Summit MO 64086. Thanks in advance for your planning to assist with the work project or for your donation to the fund, as planning is now underway for this year’s year-end KC Family Weekend.
