PRAYER REQUEST FOR DICK FILBERT:
Mr. Dick Filbert of the St. Joe Congregation is asking for prayers for his healing of myelodysplasic syndrome (MDS). It is a blood disorder that contains cancerous cells. Relevant to this is that his bone marrow isn’t making enough red blood cells and isn’t carrying oxygen, causing fatigue. His white blood cells are also low so he is more susceptible to infection. This diagnosis was evidenced by his platelets being too low, and blood is not clotting as it should. Mr. Filbert thanks you for your prayers on his behalf.
NOTICE TO PARENTS OF OUR CHILDREN:
On the Sabbath of May 4th, after services, two rubber balls that belong to the school, were taken outside and left there. Apparently one of the children from the congregation saw the balls in the chair storage closet and took them outside to play. We are not to use anything that belongs to the school other than what our contract stipulates. Certainly we do not want to lose our privilege of using the school for services. Also, overall, it is important that parents monitor what their children and grandchildren are doing, both inside the building and outside on the school grounds.
YOUTH BIBLE CLASS – TODAY:
The Youth Bible Class will meet by the stage after services, to cover Lesson #8.
JOPLIN ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT – TOMORROW:
As a final reminder, the Joplin congregation’s annual Golf Tournament will be held TOMORROW, Sunday, May 19th, starting 7:30 AM, located at Rangeline Golf Center, 2001 N. Rangeline Road, Joplin, MO 64801. If you have not yet registered, but still want to attend, please call Justin Hilgenberg at (417) 793-3782.
ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC – JUNE 2:
Our annual Church picnic is scheduled for Sunday, June 2nd, at the same location as for the past several years. Baumgardner Park (main shelter house #1 at NE corner of park), 2401 NW Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO 64015. Please plan to arrive at about 11:00 AM to allow for setup, organizing food dishes, and fellowship, before having a picnic lunch at about 12:00 noon. Iced tea, lemonade, Gatorade, water, cups, plates, plastic-ware, and napkins will be furnished. Each family is asked to bring their favorite picnic food to share, such as a meat dish, vegetable or fruit salad, and desert, enough for your family and one or two other persons. Singles are asked to bring chips and fruit drinks or soda (no beer!). There will be games available for our young children. Children’s games will start at 1:00 PM. There will also be opportunities to play other sports, such as: kickball, volleyball, softball, tennis, and horseshoes. If you plan on participating in sports, then please bring your own sports equipment, as none will be provided. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs, sunglasses, and sunscreen. And please pray for favorable weather! We will need to have the shelter house itself clean and vacated by 4:00 PM to allow for the possibility of another group’s booking of the shelter house. Those who would like to stay after 4:00 PM are welcome to continue games and fellowship in the surrounding park (but not in the shelter house). Maps showing the picnic location are on the information table.
