PRAYER REQUEST JASON SCARBOROUGH:

Jason went over to KU late Tuesday afternoon after receiving the results of his tests and to discuss treatment. The news is not as good as we were hoping, but not as bad as it could be.  Jason does have malignant colon cancer. The best they can tell right now, it is between stage 2 and 3.  They have scheduled Jason for surgery on Thursday, June 22 with a team of doctors.

The cancer has invaded several organs and right now they think they will remove some of his colon, some of his small intestine, some of his large intestines and a part of his abdominal wall. This will be two surgeries, back to back…one to remove the cancer and one with a plastic surgeon to put things back together so he looks the same as he did before surgery.

Jason is looking to God to heal him and is asking that we all continue to pray for his immediate healing.

CHAIR PICKUP AFTER SERVICES:

A reminder that about 45 minutes after services (3:45 PM), pickup of all folding chairs will begin by volunteers.  With this in mind, brethren need to have removed their belongings from the chairs & floor so as not to impede prompt chair pickup.  Also, by 4:15, brethren need to begin leaving the building so that all brethren are out of the building by 4:25 to allow the school custodian to begin his cleaning work.

CHILDREN’S BIBLE LESSON CLASS:

The Children’s Bible Lesson Class will meet today after services, in front of the stage, to go over Lesson 8.

MONTHLY BIBLE STUDY:

Bible Study will be this coming Wednesday, June 21st, beginning at 7:30 PM, at the same location as the previous Bible Studies, the Best Western Plus Hotel, 4825 NE Lakewood Way, in Lees Summit, located between Lakewood Blvd and Woods Chapel Road on the East side of 291, directly behind the Summit Grill & Bar.  Please attend if at all possible!

ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC AND COOK-OFF:

Our annual Church picnic is Sunday, June 25th, at the same location as for the past several years, Baumgardner Park (main shelter house at NE corner of the park).  The park’s official address is 2401 NW Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO, but the shelter house is about a block north of this address.  On the Information Table is a map of the picnic location.  Please plan to arrive at about 11:00 AM to allow for setup, organizing food dishes, and fellowship, before having a picnic lunch at about 12:00 noon.  Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs, sunglasses, and sunscreen; and please pray for favorable weather!

MENU:

Iced tea, lemonade, Gatorade, water, cups, plates, plastic-ware, and napkins will be furnished.  Each family is asked to bring their favorite picnic food to share, such as a meat dish, vegetable or fruit salad, and desert, enough for your family and one or two other persons.  Singles are asked to bring chips and soft drinks or fruit drinks (but no beer).  Young and old are invited to bring their special dessert treats and enter the baking contest.  NEW THIS YEAR – A smoked meat cook-off contest.  It turns out there are several smoker Gurus.  Who will turn out on top?

GAMES & SPORTS:

Volleyball, kickball, softball, tennis, horseshoes and possibly gaga ball, will all be available.  There is also a wonderful playground on-site for the smaller children.

END-OF-DAY:

We will need to have the shelter house itself clean and vacated by 4:00 PM to allow for the possibility of another group’s booking of the shelter house.  Those who would like to stay after 4:00 PM are welcome to continue games and fellowship in the surrounding park (but not in the shelter house).

QUESTIONS:

Please direct questions you may have to Doug and Faith Burson.

FEAST ROOMMATE & RIDE:

FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENTS:
