PRAYER REQUESTS:
UPDATE ON JASON SCARBOROUGH:
Jason’s surgery at KU Medical Center, on Thursday, June 22nd, went very well! The primary surgeon is 95%-plus confident that Jason’s condition is fully treatable. Also, the plastic surgeon performed his surgery with complete success. Your continued prayers for complete healing and recovery will certainly be appreciated.
PRAYER REQUEST FOR BERYL WILSON:
Mrs. Beryl Wilson fell at home yesterday (Friday) and broke her upper arm bone (humerus). She was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s East Hospital where she was treated, and where she spent the night for pain management, pending release later on the Sabbath if all goes well. Your prayers for Beryl’s comfort and rapid healing are very much appreciated.
PRAYER REQUEST FOR STEVE STIFFLER:
Mr. Steve Stiffler had tests done to determine the health status of his pancreas as a possible cause for his abdominal discomfort. However, the tests showed the pancreas to be normal in appearance and function. Therefore, your continued prayers are requested as to determining the cause of his discomfort and, in any case, for God’s intervention.
ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC AND COOK-OFF:
Our annual Church picnic is TOMORROW, Sunday, June 25th, at the same location as for the past several years, Baumgardner Park (main shelter house at NE corner of the park). The park’s official address is 2401 NW Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO, but the shelter house is about a block north of this address. On the Information Table is a map of the picnic location. Please plan to arrive at about 11:00 AM to allow for setup, organizing food dishes, and fellowship, before having a picnic lunch at about 12:00 noon. Don’t forget to bring lawn
chairs, sunglasses, and sunscreen; and please pray for favorable weather!
MENU:
Iced tea, lemonade, Gatorade, water, cups, plates, plastic-ware, and napkins will be furnished. Each family is asked to bring their favorite picnic food to share, such as a meat dish, vegetable or fruit salad, and desert, enough for your family and one or two other persons. Singles are asked to bring chips and soft drinks or fruit drinks (but no beer). Young and old are invited to bring their special dessert treats and enter the baking contest. NEW THIS YEAR – A smoked meat cook-off contest. It turns out there are several smoker Gurus. Who will turn out on top?
GAMES & SPORTS:
Volleyball, kickball, softball, tennis, horseshoes and possibly gaga ball, will all be available, but you will need to bring your own equipment. There is also a wonderful playground on-site for the smaller children.
END-OF-DAY:
We will need to have the shelter house itself clean and vacated by 4:00 PM to allow for the possibility of another group’s booking of the shelter house. Those who would like to stay after 4:00 PM are welcome to continue games and fellowship in the surrounding park (but not in the shelter house).
QUESTIONS:
Please direct questions you may have to Doug and Faith Burson.
DON’T MELT AWAY 5K: July 16, 2017
The Don’t-Melt-Away-5K is Sunday, July 16th! Please sign up to volunteer through the website dontmeltaway5K.com. Go to dontmeltaway5K.com to register. Proceeds go to benefit Living Youth Programs and the Kansas City Family Weekend.
FEAST ROOMMATE & RIDE:
For the Feast in the Ozarks, two of our women each have a specific need. Ms. Celina Felix needs a woman roommate to share room expenses preferably at the Country Club & Spa (where the Feast is being held) or at another area motel. Also, Ms. Dana Brookbank needs a ride to & from the Feast with someone who has space for an extra passenger and some luggage. If you can assist either or both of these women, please see or call our Festival Advisor, Mr. George Damon, cellphone 913-200-8662, for further details.
